"IT'S NOT A LOOPHOLE - IT'S A LIFELINE"

Brent Christopher testifies before Congress

CFT President, Brent Christopher, testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means on Thursday, February 13.

Christopher testified that the tax deduction might not be the main motivator for donations, but it does affect the size and timing of those gifts.

“It is not a ‘loophole’ that needs to be closed. It is unique in our tax code— an encouragement to act selflessly by spending our money on the public good instead of ourselves,” Christopher said. Discussion of eliminating the charitable deduction is a hot topic in Washington right now.
